About
A practice built around a monthly rhythm, not an annual scramble
Voss Advisory started with one observation: small business owners were only hearing from their accountant once a year, right when it was too late to change the outcome.
Founder
Maren Voss, CPA
Maren spent seven years as a senior accountant at a mid-sized regional firm before starting Voss Advisory in 2015. There, she noticed a pattern: business owners would show up once a year with a shoebox of receipts, get a return filed, and not hear from the firm again until the same time next year.
She started her own practice on a simple premise — that a business's numbers are only useful if someone is actually looking at them regularly. That meant building a firm around monthly bookkeeping and quarterly tax planning as the default, not an upsell.
Maren is a licensed CPA in Oregon and a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Outside the office, she serves on the finance committee of a local arts nonprofit, which is partly how the firm ended up specializing in creative and studio-based businesses.

Philosophy
How we think about the work
Numbers should be boring to look at
If your monthly report is a surprise, something upstream went wrong. Our job is to make sure nothing in your books is news to you by the time taxes are due.
Fewer clients, more attention
We cap how many businesses we take on so that a monthly numbers meeting and a two-day email turnaround stay realistic promises, not marketing copy.
Plain language over jargon
You shouldn't need an accounting degree to understand your own financial statements. We explain what a number means before we explain what caused it.
