The questions every parent actually wants answered.
No badges, no invented scores — just our ratios, our screening process, and our policies, in plain language.
Below the room maximum, in every age group.
We set our own ratios lower than what's required because fewer children per adult means faster response and more individual attention — not just a better number on a page.
Every staff member, screened before day one.
Background checks
A criminal record check and vulnerable-sector clearance is completed before any staff member works unsupervised with children, and renewed on a regular schedule.
First aid & CPR
All teaching staff hold current pediatric first aid and CPR certification, renewed annually, not just at hiring.
Early childhood credentials
Every lead teacher holds an Early Learning and Child Care certification appropriate to their room, on file and available to review on request.
Getting in — and getting your child out — is controlled.
Keypad entry
The front door is locked at all times and opens with a code issued to enrolled families and staff only.
Sign-in / sign-out
Every arrival and pickup is logged at the front desk, by name and time, for every child, every day.
Approved pickup list
Only people named on a child's pickup list — with photo ID checked for anyone staff don't already recognize — are permitted to sign a child out.
What happens if a child is sick.
Children with a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or a contagious illness need to stay home until symptom-free, without medication, for a full 24 hours. If a child develops symptoms during the day, we separate them comfortably from the group and call a parent or guardian right away.
Every child's file includes emergency contacts, allergy information, and any medication instructions, reviewed with families at enrollment and updated any time something changes.
State-licensed, regularly inspected.
Maple & Sparrow operates under provincial childcare licensing and is subject to regular, unannounced inspections. Our current license and most recent inspection summary are posted in the front entryway and available to review at any tour.
